Child Tax Credit 2022: How to claim the new payments on GetCTC?


In positive news for families in the United States earning little or no money, a tool reopens that allows them to claim Child tax credit Payments.

In 2021, for couples earning less than $150,000 or singles earning less than $75,000, the full $3,600 Child tax credit was available.

Many eligible families were able to claim up to $1,800, followed by an additional $1,800 on their tax returns this year.

As for eligibility for payments, this was determined by the Tax Service (IRS) based on the applicant’s 2019 or 2020 tax returns.

However, not everyone has filed their tax return, especially for those who don’t earn much money or at all.

How to claim the new payments on GetCTC?

For this reason, two tools were launched in 2021, one of the IRS and one of GetCTC in collaboration with the White House and the non-profit technology organization, Code for America. the GetCTC gate does not reopen.

The main point is that it is free and does not require any tax documents.

In order to claim money using the GetCTC portal, eligible families will need to complete an online form through the portal.

In certain circumstances, some people may not be eligible. The first is if you previously had the Child tax credit reduced or prohibited by a IRS investigation and have not filed Form 8862 since.

Others include if you want to file Form 8832 to claim a child who does not live with you, claim an eligible parent under a multiple support agreement, claim no children for the tax credit for children this year but received advance payments in 2021.

Additionally, you are not eligible if you bought or sold cryptocurrency in 2021 or earned more than $12,500 in total income.
