Push to reverse law is over for opponents of vouchers | Local News

PHOENIX — Universal government-funded vouchers allowing 1.1 million public school students to attend private and parochial schools are on track to become legal in Arizona.

Supporters of a petition aimed at giving voters the final say admitted on Monday that they had apparently not submitted enough signatures to force a vote. And that means the law, approved by the Republican-controlled legislature earlier this year, can go into effect as soon as Secretary of State Kate Hobbs verifies that the petition campaign has failed.
