Lucknow: On Sunday, Aam Aadmi party leader Arvind Kejriwal denounced the BJP-led government of Uttar Pradesh and its predecessors, saying they had “built cemeteries and cremation grounds”. Kicking off the party’s campaign ahead of the legislative elections, Delhi’s chief minister urged people to give their party a chance in the next competition.
Kejriwal said that over the past 75 years other political parties have “deliberately kept the people of the country poor and uneducated so that we can become their vote bank.” He also questioned the UP government on its handling of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
“In the past 5 years, Yogi ji not only built cemeteries, but also sent people to cemeteries. The handling of COVID-19 at UP was the worst in the world, ”the AAP national official told Lucknow.
A few months before the state elections, Kejriwal assured Sunday that a government led by his party would build schools and hospitals in Uttar Pradesh. “Yogi ji tumse na ho paega. If the UP people want good schools, give AAP a chance,” he added.
The Delhi CM also pledged that if an AAP government was formed it would give Rs 1000 every month to all women over 18.
“Yogi ji spent millions of rupees advertising in America’s biggest magazine. There are 850 Yogi ji billboards all over Delhi and 106 Delhi government posters. Sometimes I wonder if he is contesting from Delhi or to UP, ”he shouted. The BJP, Kejriwal alleged, had “burned” tax money on people’s income “because they were not running the government.”
